Another Snow Day!!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Another snow day is upon us and although from my window it looks completely spectacular.....brrrr, it’s cold out there.  Yes we are deep in the the frigid depths of winter. But not to despair......there’s always awesome winter fashion to cheer us up and make getting dressed and going out a pure joy! It’s still not too late to stock up on an entire wardrobe of chic scarves and gloves!
Because outerwear is what’s most obviously visible in the winter we can finally take the focus off the actual clothing we’re wearing and go absolutely CRAZY with winter accessories. Wrap yourself in a glamorous textured scarf or faux fur collar, throw on your warm coat....and you're good to go.

Oh and don’t forget an absolutely fabulous pair of gloves. My favorite for this season are  fingerless gloves - there’s such a wide range of them out there....I mean we can actually send those important texts without ever slipping off our gloves (and inevitably dropping one in a puddle or losing them again). Now we can keep our hands toasty and sooo stylish!

With everyones fingers hanging out, better make sure you moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!  That dry, scaly winter skin we all experience when the frigid air wicks all the moisture away can seriously cause your hands to appear 10 years older. Ouch!!! I LOVE Bath and Body Works Coconut Body Butter.  It’s so thick and the heavenly smell transports you on a mini-vacation to the tropics....right in the middle of a snow storm.

Creamy Hot Cocoa Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half cream

Directions

  1. Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla. Divide between 4 mugs. Add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.

  1. Sharon you are the only person in the world who could get me to read a fashion blog :-)
Very entertaining, great pics, and well-written. Of course the addition of a hot cocoa recipe sealed the deal ;-)
    Keep em coming!

  2. Thank you Laura!! Especially for the compliment on the writing...that means a lot coming from you. And yes I'm trying to give this fashion blog a little more "depth" and anything containing chocolate def helps....only next time I'll try to make the recipe less fattening!!
