FINALLY...MY SUKKAH: BLACK AND WHITE AND BOLDLY GOLD

MY INSPIRATION
MY SUKKAH:
Almost everything used was found somewhere in my house. The only exceptions were the wide black and white striped fabric, the fresh roses, and some inexpensive black Halloween decorations from Michaels.
I simply spray painted old picture frames and urns gold. The damask fabric and branches were leftovers from my daughter's engagement party.
A Halloween ornament from Michaels is used as a 3D piece of art in the gilded frame.

A hanging urn (spray painted gold) is filled with glorious white peacock feathers (loaned to me) and black glitter branches  (Michaels) for a dramatic 3D art piece.

Lamps and mirrors from my friends' and my home adorn the Sukkah to create a temporary outdoor room.

The centerpiece consisted of three different vases filled with mixed elements all within the same color scheme.

An iron candle chandelier given to me by a dear friend is a centerpiece I use and decorate every year. This year I kept it simple and added a tassel in the center.
The tassel from the chandelier hangs directly in the center complimenting the tablescape perfectly.

The striped fabric reflects beautifully in the mirror.

ADDING A BIT OF  GOLD HARDWARE IS A GREAT WAY TO GIVE BASIC BLACK WOW APPEAL
I'm not sure why this color combo appeals to me so much, but it definitely is one of my favorites in both fashion and decor. Maybe it's because black is so glamorous but can get dreary and boring if not ignited by something exciting and rich. Gold fits the bill perfectly.

Honestly, I hardly had time to spend in the Sukkah decorating as I usually do, because I had a lot of guests and tons of food to cook. (That is why it took til now to even get this post up!) But, in the end I was thrilled with how everything came out, and the lesson learned here is that if the basic concept works you need not  too much to create the affect you desire. Less is certainly more when the foundation is 'wow' enough.

Do you love black and gold as much as I do? If not, what would you use to bring black alive??

Hoping you enjoy the rest of your Holiday and week!
