Last week I was one of the 9 lucky bloggers chosen to create a unique Thanksgiving table setting for Daily Buzz Mom's 9x9 Thanksgiving Table Setting and Design Challenge. The rules were to create a tablescape in 9 hours based on inspirations and concepts we submitted. I decided that I wanted to do something sparkly and elegant, yet still earthy and representative of quintessential Thanksgiving decor.
I started with my hotel style duvet cover as a tablecloth and a furry taupe scarf (TJ Maxx) as the runner. I decided to use natural twigs and an extra large lighted pumpkin fashioned out of grape vine branches (Pier 1 Imports) as the centerpiece. I added both gold and silver pine cones and other natural decorations enhanced by candles in crystal candlesticks. I was also inspired by some photos showing words of thanks incorporated into the actual table setting. And in the last moment I decided to add some personal framed family photos because, after all, my family is what I am most thankful for!

Here are some inspirations that sparked some of my ideas:
And this is how my tablescape turned out:

I used glitter letter stickers (Michaels) to create the Thanksgiving table message. |

I love the juxtaposition between the different textures of the furry scarf, natural twigs and gilded picture frames. |

Candlesticks and twinkle lights add a festive glow. |

The sparkly placemats (Pier 1 Imports) add visual interest to my classic Lenox china. |

There is nothing more to be grateful for than family. |

For a more whimsical look the letters can be placed in a more random fashion. |

Each place setting is enhanced with an inexpensive flower pot filled with a green apple. These can be used as place card holders too! |
So what do you think?
Wishing everyone an early Happy Thanksgiving!

ReplyDeleteWow!! I love how you were able to keep with a homey, autumn feel but still make it so glamorous. If Cinderella had a Thanksgiving ball, this is what the table would look like!

Only 3 days left to enter my giveaway for a pair of Buffalo Skinny Jeans :)
Just beautiful! I love the whimsical placement of the letters the best, I think ... good thinking! Being an artist, I've been asked to create tablescapes for two big designer fundraising events before and I loved doing it ... I had a couple of months at least to prepare and I enjoyed the creativity explosion of it so much and I love doing tablescapes at home too ;) Hope you have a wonderful holiday, love!

This Week: Grand Flirt III
I love this! The framed photos are brilliant. I will be dining at my parents this year but will be sure to bring photos of the grandkids for the centerpiece. I love the coziness of the fuzzy runner intertwined with nature and bling, and the simplicity of the apple - just perfect! (I also LOVE your wallpaper but that's another issue).
