FRIDAY FOOD AND FAVORITES-A RECIPE FOR YOUR THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS PLUS SOME OF MY FAVORITE FINDS

Friday, November 25, 2011

Happy Friday! Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving? Here's a great lunch or dinner idea using your turkey leftovers:

Thanksgiving Turkey Reuben

Prep time: 15 minutes | Cook time: 8 minutes | Total time: 23 minutes
Yield: 4 panini

INGREDIENTS:

Cranberry Russian Dressing:
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons cranberry sauce (I used whole berry)
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
Panini:
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage or packaged cole slaw
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 3/4 lb carved turkey, thinly sliced (I think thigh meat is best)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

DIRECTIONS:

To make the Cranberry Russian Dressing:
  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, cranberry sauce, horseradish and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste. It will be rather pink!
To make the panini:
  1. Preheat the panini grill to medium high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the with cabbage with the Cranberry Russian Dressing.
  3. For each sandwich: Add a thin layer of turkey, a few spoonfuls of the dressed cabbage another thin layer of turkey. Close the sandwich with a second slice of bread. Brush a little olive oil on top.
  4. Grill until the bread is toasted, about 4 minutes. Serve immediately.
Considering it's Black Friday, I'm sure most of you are all shopped out. I personally stay away from stores on Black Friday.  Call me a killjoy, but I'd rather save money by staying home than spending money (in a frenzy) on things I don't need. What's your take on all of this?

Anyhow...just in case you're still in the mood to shop, here are just a few of my Friday favorites...enjoy!

Sometimes all you need is a fab piece of jewelry to give a ho hum outfit some extra pizazz. Here's just one example of  a gorgeous bracelet you can find HERE.
This is one of my 'go to' staples all year round, but in the winter especially, when sunlight is sparse and a ghostly complexion can creep in, Nars Laguna Bronzer will make you look like you just got back from vacation!
I don't know about  you, but by now you all know I'm a glutton for heels. They just somehow give my day a 'lift', although sometimes they can be hard to walk in. When I can find a fabulous pair of boots with both a wedge and platform that make walking easier, I'm truly soaring! I love these because the ruching gives them a little extra edge. What do you think? Buy them HERE.

Anyone that knows about how flattering Adrianna Papell dresses are will love this shutter pleated skirt. This style turns a  basic staple into a high style piece, and besides, you'll love the way it slims you and melts away bulges! Buy it HERE.

This Friday I am grateful for my dear friends M & C who help me find clarity when things are not so clear and always make me laugh!

Shabbat Shalom and have a wonderful weekend!

Til Next Time...

  8. I so need to get that bronzer, thanks for the tip!

After having worked in retail during college, I absolutely never leave the house to shop on Black Friday. I do most of my retail/gift shopping on line year round, except when I need that "instant" pick-me-up :-)

Boots are adorable! Love the color!!
