FROM A GUY'S PERSPECTIVE...POSITIVE OUTLOOKS AND OUTFITS!

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

This post has been a long time coming. I've been trying to get my brother-in-law Mike Dube, CEO and Head Trainer at DubeZone to guest post here and talk to us about life from a guy's perspective. Mike is the kind of man everybody loves. He's charismatic, spiritual, and full of positive energy that he enjoys sharing with the world, not to mention a real fashion guy!

Mike with my adorable niece Sienna!

Mike could do anything, but he chooses to spend his time helping kids reach their absolute potential. He and is fabulous wife Rachel (whom I love dearly by the way) started DubeZone, a sports and fitness‐based enrichment program for kids that helps build strong character as well as strong bodies.

Mike just recently went through a difficult surgery to repair a hernia and wanted to share his experience and perspective...one that we can all learn from.

Mike writes:

"I have been very fortunate and very blessed in many different  ways. I have a beautiful and healthy wife and 2 beautiful healthy kids. I'm in a business that I not only love, but am excited to get up in the morning with G-d's touch to make the most of that day.

I'm fortunate that I'm in a position to constantly give back on a daily basis whether by teaching and training kids in sports and life, or working with special needs adults and kids. I have loved sports and being physically active since I was a baby. Sports were always an amazing outlet for me in many different ways.

Being one of 3 boys, school work, studying and reading were never that important to me. I figured that by being popular, friendly, and athletic, everything in life would come easy to me...

But as I got older I realized that life is so short, so I try to not only make the most of every day, but to keep a positive attitude. There's an old cliche, "Your attitude defines your altitude". Well, a few weeks ago I had my first surgery ever. It was invasive hernia surgery.

This surgery was one of the toughest challenges to deal with in my life. Not only was I not able to work out (I have been going to the gym religiously for close to 20 years), but I didn't have control of my body- which is a very scary thing. So as strong as I might look and be, I felt like a little boy who needed his wife, friends and family to help me through this.

I'm excited to not only be getting back to working out- swimming- running- lifting- core- pushup-situps - but I'm also grateful for the fact that G-d created our bodies with the ability to heal.

I'm the luckiest guy in the world! Through hardship we can learn to be grateful for what we have!!"

Thanks Mike! I love your attitude!
