The Perfect Sunday - A Story in Turquoise and Yellow

Sunday, July 08, 2012

Everyone has their dream of what a perfect day would be.
For me it's the simple things in life that bring the most joy. When a day goes smoothly without too many bumps in the road, I try to be grateful for the basics...all the little treasures that are there in our days waiting to be discovered but sometimes overshadowed by what is perceived as much bigger things.

On a perfect day, I would wake up to sunshine...
...and indulge myself while getting dressed with all my pretty things.

Then I would go down to my kitchen and make myself a delicious cup of flavored coffee, savoring the taste and aroma...
...then I'd go for a nice stroll by the beach...
...and make sure I stopped to smell the flowers.
I would do something for someone else, like send a gift to a friend or a package to my daughter in camp, savoring the joy of creating something beautiful to share.
I would take some time to do some errands and get some work done and appreciate the feeling of accomplishment...
...and maybe treat myself to something fun.

And finally I would end my day by relaxing at home with my family...

and then enjoying a soothing bath...all the while planning and looking forward to tomorrow!
Everyone has their dream of what a perfect day would be. And everyday I wake up and plan on having one. For me, today didn't exactly turn out that way, but the challenge of overcoming the obstacles and seeing the surprisingly okay outcomes, can give a difficult day a special richness. So if this all sounds a bit self indulgent, realize it's just a fantasy (with the help of some fun eye candy) because, well, real life isn't always this pretty!

Until next time,
xo

  3. Great visual display of gliding through a perfect day, all important aspects, and very inspiring as usual!!

For me, today was the perfect day because I finally got a chance to get my hair done, so not literally a "turquoise-and-yellow" day fortunately (phew!); that can be next Sunday!

    Have a great week!

  8. Beatiful. I love this old furniture so much. Think I'll take a new project to redesign a wooden piece. Will try to post a tutorial soon enough. Thank you for the inspiration!

  9. MY GOODNESS Sharon, the melding of aqua and yellow has been on my mind lately and I was even going to MUSE on this soon! But you have done it and so splendidly! Hello there SUNSHINE! I do agree with you that these are the kind of things I would do and do DO when I can, sans the beach, however! But here in the Twin Cities, we do have lakes and it is just as beautiful.

Thank you lovely one, for coming to visit me ! Have a special day today! Anita

  15. I love imagining the perfect day too, Sharon. Love the yellow/turquoise combo and am considering one or both as accents for my new house ... they both are just so happy. I also love to leaf through my book of "Favorite Things" (a handwritten book I keep on my desk filled with any and all, big and small, that I absolutely love .. some are as simple as "the scent of baby powder" and "fresh raspberries" and others are more costly "hotels that leave mints on your pillow" ... I like to leaf through it and pick one or two of my favorites to incorporate into a day when things are not rosy). Thanks for another inspiring post! xo
