Olivia Palermo...Style Icon

Sunday, September 23, 2012

From the moment I started my blog, Olivia Palermo's amazing and oft refined style had a constant presence in my searches for modest yet glamorous fashion. I've been collecting photos of her on Pinterest (there are so many!) and I am constantly amazed at how much I love every single outfit she manages to put together, and yet, she keeps each of her looks completely fresh and unique.

Do you get confused about styling your own outfits? Let's take some cues from Olivia:

Beige and black alway look classic together, vary your beiges to add interest.
Dress down a glamorous maxi skirt with stripes; and finish the look by adding in an unexpected piece like this shearling vest.
Great accessories and makeup will transform you even if your outfit is simple.
Get creative when mixing colors and pieces you may not have considered wearing together before.
The boyfriend jacket is the perfect cover up for a clean and classic look.
Never be afraid to go bold and bright, just anchor it with a neutral like black.
When wearing a statement dress, you don't need much else to look divine.
Don't be afraid to mix textures, especially when wearing similar tones.
Mixing patterns can be fun, but do it only in small doses.
Try to balance your pieces, like this ultra fem skirt with this chunky sweater.
A midi skirt looks most flattering with ankle strapped shoes.

A flowing skirt looks super polished with a sharp jacket. Add some fun with a contrasting bag when wearing black and white.
Have lots of fun accessorizing, and remember that black makes a great backdrop for bling.
Tone down vivid color blocking with a beige topper...it will look fabulous.
Even when you're in a casual mood, add a little sparkle, it will brighten your day.
Texture over texture gives this comfy chic look lots of depth.
Keep your makeup subtle and glowy so your inner beauty shines through...
...and always remember to smile!

Until next time,
xo
Sharon
