I had a post all planned. I was going to show you a roundup of NYFW and some wonderful looks from London Fashion Week as well. Then this Tom Ford Autumn/Winter Collection rolled onto the runway and stopped me cold in my tracks. This one, like really good art, left me completely intrigued. The collection packs a huge visual impact and features so many fabulous elements (graphics, florals, leopard, lace, fur, color, black and white and pattern mixing) that it's really hard to come up with a proper description. But there are two words that do come to mind: POW and WOW! Oh Tom how will you ever top this one?
(for modesty purposes I would prefer this and the lace ones with a lining)

How do you feel about this collection? Do you think these clothes are wearable? Which looks do you love?
Gosh I want them all, so beautiful ...he is the best! I have only one dress from Tom Ford for Gucci and it is my favourite one (: What a talent... hugs Z
I love how all these pieces look on the runway but I'm not sure how wearable they are :/ I'd love to have them hanging in my wardrobe to look at every now and then!
That gray and black ensemble is just for me. I can remember being a little girl and loving to wear black, but my momma said, "That is for women." Well, she was right. What a statement! LOVE THIS SHARON! Anita
This man is a genius, of course. He's a Texan so he has the edgy & opulent going for him always. I would want those beaded flowered boots more than anything. I think I would wear them out. To me there are 3 designers who are the most important in the world today, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs & The Row...all Americans. xx's
Art belongs on the wall, not on your body. The idea of tznius is to be attractive, not attracting - and these outfits are desperate for attention. Could you imagine wearing these in Boro Park or Beitar?
I thought the London Fashion Week post was SPOT ON, for elegant, refined looks that will stand the test of time.
I refuse to spend more than $20 for something that is guaranteed to embarrass me in a year or two. Neon flats or a leopard print scarf are OK, but this? Way OTT!
What a creative use of rich colour and print. Most definitely works of art! My wardobe has more neutrals than colour - I would probably be more inclined to wear the black and grey! http://missbbobochic.blogspot.co.uk/
Oh, I am traveling to my native state of California for a couple of days. Family, friends and maybe even a walk on Santa Monica beach are waiting for me to UNWIND!
I will be back and thank you for coming to visit me my dear! Anita
Wow...hes taken wearing art to a whole new level! Its like wearing a painting..lol. I prefer the more toned down versions, some are too funky and out there for my taste but theres no doubt aobut it, he is incredibly talented!

ReplyDeleteThe silhouettes and details are just gorgeous! You're totally right to call them works of art.

Look at that long black dress with the 'pow' impact on it. So gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is fashion! Reminds me of Issey Miyake. Some outfits are more wearable than others, but it's all stunning and full of integrity.
