My Sukkah 2013...the final results!

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

If you've been following my Facebook and Instagram, and reading my blog posts, you've witnessed my creative journey in creating a beautiful Sukkah. The photo that first inspired this year's idea has been posted several times and you've asked to see the results. And now...ta da...here they are.

This iron candle chandelier was the focal point of the Sukkah this year. It was given to me by a dear friend...the original queen of Sukkah decorating! I simply dropped a mini chandelier through the center and filled the candle holes with fresh flowers.
Creating the trellis was the most difficult part.  Although it looks pretty easy, gluing garlands (from Michael's and also available in real from Autumn Creation) onto silk fabric doesn't really work that well.  You need to attached the teeny leaves to the fabric, so you basically get more burning glue on your fingers than the actual garlands. But the end result was worth the effort.
Mini vials of water (from your local floral supply company) keep the individual flowers fresh.
Two 6 foot tables were joined to create a square and then covered in green faux crocodile vinyl (from Stitch and Sew of Lakewood). I wanted to create layers of several textures in the sukkah. The centerpiece cluster of flowers was designed by Autumn Creations of Lakewood, NJ...the BEST and most creative florist in the area!
Empty gold frames created a clean backdrop to the other focal points. We decided to keep them empty this year to allow the flowers and greenery to shine.
