Friday Food and Favorites: Dairy Made Easy...Let's Talk Shavuos tastes and tabelscapes!
Friday, May 23, 2014
Shavuos is just around the corner so it's time again to start talking about recipes and tablescapes. I absolutely love this holiday and time of year, and relish in the fact that, being that it's only a two-day Yom Tov, we can go crazy with our culinary creativity without becoming overwhelmed or burnt out.
As many of you may know, I'm not an avid cookbook user, I'm more of cookbook skimmer, and that's why as soon as I received my copy of Dairy Made Easy by Leah Schapira and Victoria Dwek I gave it my unconscious stamp of personal approval. Like the recipes inside, it's light and easy. Visually, it's an appealing treat in its own rite, which is an important factor for me, and I found it to be organized in a fun and creative way.
With interesting add-ons like an informative cheese guide, a designated listing specifically for the lighter recipes, and options for customizing the recipes, Dairy Made Easy, reads like a fun day in the kitchen with friends.
I especially enjoy that the sections are organized in a way that works well for easy menu planning...like the 'Soup, Salad, and Sandwich' section...where we are introduced to refreshing combinations that will pique your cooking creativity...perfect for skimming through, and adjusting your own food ensembles.
But the part that keeps me coming back for more is the dessert section, with insanely tantalizing recipes like Tres Leches Cake, and Peanut Butter Creme Brulee. Reading those recipes feels almost as good as eating them (well...maybe, not exactly). When it comes to baking, I realize that just skimming recipes won't cut it, so I will be using that dessert section quite a bit in preparation for serving some of those tantalizing Shavuos delicacies!

And now for some of my favorite tablescape ideas from Pinterest...the never ending variety of combinations that can be created with gorgeous Spring flowers never ceases to amaze me. Get inspired!
Which ones are your favorites?
With all these gorgeous recipes and flowers there's no reason we can't all have truly spectacular Shavuos tables!
Have a beautiful Shabbos and weekend,
xo
