Monday Blues-I Stand With [The Colors of] Israel

Monday, July 14, 2014

Note: I will be taking a break from bloggin until the conflict in Israel is resolved. The loss of so many of our precious boys is too much too bear. Thank you for your patience. Please pray for peace. Thank you.

During this very tense time in the middle east, as so many of my family and friends have had to interrupt their lives to run to bomb shelters at every terrifying code red siren, it's been extremely difficult for me to focus on anything superficial.

But life (and the blog) must go on.

I came to that conclusion after spending two full days feeling utterly hopeless and depressed.  And after two days of walking around in a daze, glued to my Facebook feed, I  realized that I was going against how I try to live my life: By seeking out the good, focusing on beauty, elevating the mundane, and living to the fullest.

Being depressed and worried doesn't accomplish much at all. It depletes our energy, and the negativity ultimately affects the people and the world around us. Instead, I decided to adjust my attitude towards hope, prayer and love. Because our thoughts and emotions are the energy we emit, and their ripple effect can be a powerful source in the world.

So today, instead of feeling blue, I am going to celebrate blue; the gorgeous color of Israel.* Let's get inspired and creative. Let's get dressed and feel beautiful. Let's be kind and compassionate. Let's hope for life and love and peace!

*In trying to stay as apolitical as possible on this blog, I haven't yet expressed my personal views on the situation in the middle east, but if you've been following me on Facebook and Instagram, you will know that in no uncertain terms I stand with Israel and her right to defend herself against the hundreds of rockets being shot into her major cities directly targeting innocent civilians. That being said, I know that the IDF and the Israeli people share the same sentiments as me in that we do not wish for the suffering or loss of any innocent human life, and at their own expense of living in terror, are doing everything possible to prevent such loss. Unfortunately, the terrorists have been using their own people as human shields to protect their arsenals, and of their own volition, lives have been lost. The world is quick to sympathize with their cries, but ultimately it's on them for putting their innocent people in harm's way. I pray that this war will all be over soon and that Hashem will continue to watch over and protect our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, cousins, and friends in the only democracy and ally that the USA has in the middle east: Israel.
Until next time,

xo

  1. Lots of love and prayers to your family and friends dealing with this terrible time going on. It is so easy for those of us in other places to turn an eye to these things happening, but it is very sad. I really hope that one day all of this will be history and we can all live in peace and harmony. We owe it to ourselves to achieve this. I hope you keep your spirits up my dear...lots of love to you xx

  2. Beautifully articulated. I have the same sentiments; I feel so oddly guilty and distracted. How can we go on "fashion blogging" while our people are standing upright in the tight quarters of a bomb shelter for hours on end? Thank you for writing this, and clarifying these feelings.
    much love,
    Abby

  7. We are praying for our brave young soldiers, and mourning those that have fallen. Looking at my facebook feed is painful. There is nothing more comforting than the blue and white!
