Looking for the perfect and unique gift for mother's day? Want something that's both spiritually inspired and stunning? Check out this fabulous mother/daughter teamed company: Alef Bet by Paula 1-888-Alef-Bet (253-3238).  Alef Bet is about fashion, faith, and forward-looking designs. What can be better than buying your mom (or yourself) a custom crafted piece of jewelry designed by a loving mother/ daughter team for mother's day?

This excerpt from Jewish Womens Magazine describes their relationship:

Paula Brooks, a jewelry designer who also has her own website, Alefbet.com, which sells her own Judaic jewelry, including the now ubiquitous necklaces and bracelets made with Hebrew letter beads.
Brooks shares her business with her daughter. Alissa Brooks Haroush joined Alefbet.com when she was a senior at UCLA. "Mom got so busy filling orders, she would call and ask me to come over and help," recalls Haroush, who is the mother of three and lives 10 minutes away from Brooks in Chatsworth, California. "I found it fun and exciting, and, because I was in Judaic studies, it fit right in."
Today, Haroush helps design the jewelry in addition to sharing the business side of the company. "Since Alissa was a little girl, we've done crafty projects together and we're a good pair because she has a different eye from mine," says Brooks. "I have to tell you, though, that of my three daughters, Alissa was the most headstrong when she was a teenager. I never would have imagined that we would be such good friends as adults." Haroush echoes the sentiment. "When I was a teenager, I couldn't stand to be with my mom for five minutes," she says. "But now when we travel, we're together 24 hours a day and I love it. I've learned what a nice person she is and how enjoyable she is to be with."
Both mother and daughter appreciate another advantage of an on-line, as opposed to a bricks-and-mortar, business. "Alissa has raised her 3 kids right here in our home office," says Brooks. "How many women are lucky enough to see their grandchildren every day?" "When customers call and they hear kids in the background, they accept it," adds Haroush. "They get a kick out of our having such a strong family unit."
Spiritually Alef Bet specializes in pieces which include the hamsa (arabic for the number five and also called the hand of Miriam and is thought of by some as an amulet to ward off the evil eye) and chai symbols (meaning 'life' in Hebrew), red string bendel bracelets (also believed to ward off the evil eye), protection and good luck designs, and evil eye jewelry. The star of David (Jewish star), tree of life, chai, and mezuzah are more themes prevalent in their designs. Materialistically they offer all of their pieces in sterling silver and 14K yellow, white, and rose gold.

Alef Bet by Paula is also doing its part to help preserve the Earth’s natural resources by working with many recycled metals. They will continue to be a participant in the global effort to preserve our planet’s future and make this world a better place.

Here are some pieces I love from their artistic, hand-crafted collection. These pieces are more than just beautiful designs, they are also imbued with spirituality and Jewish symbolism. And by now you know how I feel about elevating the material elements in this world to their highest art form by infusing in them spirituality:
