GETTING REAL

Sunday, September 04, 2011

Since I started this blog, it has become a passion and a creative outlet for me. Finding balance in a hectic world and sharing refined fashion and inspirations gives me great pleasure, and I absolutely love passing my enthusiasm to you.

But, honestly, although I do strive for the best life possible, I'm a just a regular person; a wife and mother who has had her share of drama, laughter, and tears. I may post glamorous pictures, but at any given time you may find me dressed down, makeup smudged, trying to conquer an endless pile of dirty laundry (am I the only one who's kids try on all their clothes then throw their clean stuff into the hamper?) or any other tedious domestic duty; not exactly at my best

And often I'm just down because I allow feelings of inadequacy to creep into my normally positive demeanor. There's always a better mother, organizer, homemaker, dresser, blogger...the list is endless! Sometimes I dream about a fabulous career in fashion that I don't have because I chose to be there for my family, which, by the way can be THE most difficult and under appreciated job in the universe (although ultimately the most rewarding).

So tonight I've decided to share with you, that I'm not feeling so extraordinary...I'm in a bit of a mood.  After all, isn't that real life? We're all human, just trying to do the best we can, and bring a little joy and meaning into our lives.

So now that I've expressed my less than glamorous feelings, let's turn this baby around and get some positive inspiration for the week. Because the only direction from down is up!

"It's the man who waits for his ship to come who's always missing the boat."

The glamorous career of motherhood...or NOT!

This picture is from an article called "The Rescuing Hug". The article details the first week of life of a set of twins. Each were in their respective incubators and one was not expected to live. A hospital nurse fought against the hospital rules and placed the babies in one incubator. When they were placed together, the healthier of the two, threw an arm over her sister in an endearing embrace. The smaller baby's heart stabilized and temperature rose to normal.
So, go put your arm around someone who needs a hug!

Even in aging true beauty emerges...

I borrowed this fabulous look from one of my 'shopstyle' friends and I found it to be so inspiring: Even when feeling a bit 'monochromatic' you can always find a touch of glamour, color, happiness...

Sometimes you just need to break your diet and LIVE!

Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

And with that my friends...have a great Sunday!

  3. What a beautiful post, thank you. Interesting that I was in a similar mood yesterday, which surprised me a bit. I made a mental "note-to-self" to finally take the time to allow my imagination to take me away to my "special beautiful place" in my mind, and these photos enabled me to do just that! I feel so much better and hope you do too!
