CHIC ON THE CHEAP - INSPIRED BY CLUB MONACO FALL 2011

This post is dedicated to my daughter's sister in law, Riki who recently asked me on my facebook page, "What happened to Chic on the Cheap?" For those of you who don't know, I used to do a post on Kosher Street called 'Chic on the Cheap Look of the Week', so I decided to restart this post here on my own blog.

A while back when I saw the Club Monaco Fall Lookbook, I instantly fell in love with their easy, chic and practical looks for winter. Here are some of my favorites, including one I've chosen as an inspiration for compiling my own CHEAP shopping look for you to copy. And every piece - aside from the jacket and booties - is under $50!  (The jacket and shoes are under $100.)

The Look:

For this look start with a great shearling jacket or vest...

Shearling Jacket $69.50

...then add the following pieces: a great leopard skirt ($45), a warm rust colored sweater ($24.99), a super cool black fedora ($29.99), a great pair of oxford booties ($89.95), some wood bangles ($30), a pair of interesting earrings and some bronze metallic makeup($2.99).

Styling tip: You can pair wide stripes with a small print as long as you keep the tones neutral and balanced.

Styling tip: A shimmery pleated skirt gets dressed down nicely with a cable knit sweater. Combine warm and cool tones to add interest to your look.

Styling tip: Sport a hat and a fur vest and it doesn't matter what you wear underneath.

Styling tip: A cropped leather jacket always looks great with a maxi skirt. Cognac and navy are a great winter combo. 

Styling tip: Pair a super fem asymmetrical skirt with an ultra soft sweater and top with a slouchy beret. (Would you wear slouch socks with heels?)

Styling tip: When wearing all black, add a touch of warmth with a leather belt in a contrasting color.
