FACING BLOGGER'S BLOCK - JUMP INTO BED!

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

Recently I've been having an intense case of writer's block, or blogger's block, or creative block...whatever you choose to call it.  Today I avoided my laptop like the plague, but it loomed larger than life in the background of my consciousness...nagging at me, whispering in my ear, "You must send that email, post that blog, update your Facebook page! You're falling behind!" But instead of listening to the panic filled voices, I chucked my to do list and ran to the mall where I bought myself 5 new MAC lipsticks in colors I NEVER wear.

Blogger friends out there...I KNOW you KNOW what I'm saying ;)

But here I am, writing this post. Because what happens to me when I stop fighting, and just relax a little; when I let go and accept my own imperfections, is that all of the sudden the creative juices start to flow again. Not exactly in the same direction as I had originally planned, but in their own unique way. Proof that not only do you need to take some downtime, it's actually a really productive move.

So here's what happened. This evening, after wasting about three hours procrastinating on Facebook (how a bunch of nothingness can keep you captivated for hours at a shot is still beyond me, yet I fall victim every time) and deleting my emails, all I wanted to do was fall into a soft bed and slip into oblivion.  And then suddenly, the inspiration came back. I remembered seeing some amazing beds on Pinterest and decided to do a post on beds and make it personal as well.

So here they are...beds to dream about, if not in.

Which one is your favorite?

So did you decide where you'd dream to sleep tonight? I personally love 1, 5 and 9. 7 is also way cool, but no thank you, I don't think I'd want to actually sleep there. What about you?

Sweet dreams,
xo

  3. I love the same bedrooms you do, with number one probably being my favorite. Couldn't sleep in the pool bed - imagine breathing the chlorine all night?? Yikes.

Totally good idea to take a break from blogging/internet overload. I occasionally take a week off from blogging and social networking. It's good for the soul!

  7. I love the first one and the last two - they are wonderful!! I know what you mean, you really need to get away from the blog and let the mind relax, so it can get things in order. I have to do that here and there or I go crazy!! I hope you have a great day!! xx

  10. Number one is my favorite since I'm claustrophobic and couldn't sleep being surrounded by drapes. The bed pool side would make me nervous, what if I rolled over to far?....;)

  13. Hey Girl! I really love number 5. It is definitely my style. We all go through writer's/blog block. I've definitely been there. But sometimes it's just the little things that matter. Like the 5 tubes of MAC lipstick. That could be a post. I'm sure everyone would love to see the shades or your trip to purchase them. What you saw along the way etc. The post I wrote the other day was on a total whim. I saw the pictures of the model falling but looked deeper and created a post on how blogging was like wearing high heels. Sometimes looking beyond what is there helps. Relax and take everything in. You'll have gobs of posts in no time. Wishing you a great day my friend. ((HUG))

  14. I have the same blocks because I've been blogging continously since 2008. At some point even the joy of this absolutely wonderful thing we have to share with the world does get boring somethime. There is no continual Nirvana, is there . . . .? Lovely post BTW and I adore these finds

  15. I've always wanted a round bed. there is something so chic about it..

and i do understand blogger's block. i suffer from it frequently. i've learned not to panic and step away from the keyboard. when u come back u come back with a vengeance..

  16. Number ONE - so romantic! I can relate to how you feel. Being new to bogging - i struggle with what to write about all the time. I think the best blogs are honest and personal. I started following you after you posted a video of yourself doing your lashes - very fun and personal. I loved it!
