FRIDAY FOOD AND FAVORITES - PURIM PAINTING AND PACKAGES

Friday, March 02, 2012

As mentioned in a previous post, the Jewish holiday of Purim is right around the corner (next Wednesday night/Thursday). This joyous, celebratory and spiritual holiday is so fun, and the custom is to dress up in costumes and send creative food packages to our friends. The traditional food of Purim is Hamantashan which are triangle shaped cookie like confections filled with various sweets. As a sushi (and healthy food) lover, I had to share these hamantashen shaped sushi, originally posted by busyinbrooklyn.com for my Friday food!

Friday Favorites - Painting and Packages:
I have been wanting to talk about the paintings of Brocha Teichman for a long time. I met Brocha through facebook and her website and would love to meet her in person one day. She is a mega talented painter and you must go check out her gorgeous work HERE. She recently posted this fun Purim painting and just had to share it.
Check out Brocha's amazing paintings HERE

Purim is also a day that we love to be creative with the food packages that we share with our friends and family. For those of you who still need some inspiration, here are some cool ideas that I just love!

Idea 1: Dip pretzels in melted chocolate and sprinkles and place in pretty glasses tied with ribbon:
Idea 2: Wrap some simple and delicious snacks in gift boxes, wrap with craft paper and cool labels...tie with string.
Idea 3: Use a simple lunch bag for your goodies and create pretty wax paper flowers the same way you would tissue paper flowers. (Fold several layers of tissue paper into a fan, tie tightly in the center and open up one sheet at a time until it forms a flower.)
Idea 4: Create a delicious layered salad in a jar and send with a bag of chips. Make sure to keep the dressing on the bottom of the jar to keep any greens from wilting.

What are some of your creative ideas? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Have a great weekend!
