And I'm Off...Plus Wedding Wednesday

And I'm Off...
Well I have a little confession to make. I'm going away again! I have to admit that I feel a little guilty, considering that I just recently came back from Miami and was basically 'out of it' for about a month.

A while back my husband and I received a wedding invitation from a friend; but this was no typical invitation, the wedding was to take place in Belgium. And in my post surgical stupor, when he asked me if I want to go to Europe, I said of course, without realizing that I would be leaving the week before the event that I had been working on and not returning until the day of the event!

Besides for that, and if you're a mother you will understand, sending my 10 year old away to a friend for a week is not the most pleasant thing to do. I am so grateful to my friend Rivky who didn't bat an eyelash when I sheepishly asked her if my daughter could move in for a week. Nothing phases that woman!

So there's a lot of guilt going on...but guilt is a wasted emotion right?? So I'm off to Belgium for the wedding, and then we're hopping over to the land of Gucci, Prada and Versace. Yes...I'm going to Italy!!
In this photo are the three places I will be visiting: Venice, Lake Como, and Milan, with some fabulous Italian street style thrown in ;)

Going to Italy has been a dream of mine for a long time, and honestly I haven't even allowed myself to think about it until now. So after a long day of checking off only part of my endless to do list, and giving up on packing after standing and staring at my closet for about 3 minutes, I'm back here to tell you that I CAN'T WAIT to share it all with you!!

Wedding Wednesday
Now if you follow my FACEBOOK page (which you should by the way, it's a really fun place), you'd know that I feature wedding inspired looks every Wednesday. Well recently a Fashion-isha friend asked me if I would do a post on sister of the bride ideas based on real life fashion and couture. So here are some ideas to spark your imagination and help you design or shop for the perfect gown for your occasion.

Let's start with some inspiration from last night's Met Gala. This first photo was styled and posted by my friend the fabulous Fabologie Page who will be launching her website (we can't wait!) this coming June. Meanwhile check out her facebook page, it's where all things fabulous live!

It seems that besides for some ultra-fem Valentino confections, the simple sheath dress is the way to go for the most current wedding styling.

Try a sheath in sparkling sequins...
...or one in a flattering pastel hue.
If you need a little more femininity in your look, Valentino gowns can give you fresh flowers...
...or dramatic lace.
Or if you crave drama, you can go all out with a bold ballroom skirt in a passionate color, just tone it down with a neutral top.

I hope this post inspired you with some great ideas!

Next post...with love from Europe! xo

Until next time,
Sharon

  15. Such a lucky girl you are Sharon! You deserve the pampering and Italy is one of my favourite places ((: so have fun and shop in Milan! Try the make up label called KIKO as it is the best stuff and can't buy it in USA. It is on one of the side streets opposite the main Duommo!
