Dress Your Table, Dress Yourself

Thursday, May 24, 2012

In my most recent article for InFashion Magazine I wrote about flowers on the table and flowers in fashion. I showed how some floral inspired outfits ignited some great ideas for floral centerpieces and vice versa. I loved the idea so much that I decided that this concept would be a great post for before Shavuos.

Now that our food is covered (see my previous post for a full dairy meal menu with a shopping list included)  we can move on to the really fun part: Dressing up our tables...and ourselves. Here are four fabulous color schemes that work well for putting together pretty holiday outfits, OR for decorating your tables.

Get inspired!

Blush and Beige
Tabletop styling tip: Use a burlap tablecloth adorned with pink roses.
Fashion styling tip: Pair a soft pink skirt with a beige cardigan or jacket.
 Coral Infusion
Tabletop styling tip: Place a grouping of cut flowers from your garden into several small vases.
Fashion styling tip: Coral is a powerful color and doesn't need much else to compliment it.
Black and White
Tabletop Styling Tip: Trade your basic white tablecloth for black and add drama with black and white accents.
Fashion styling tip: Tie a bold black and white scarf or ribbon into bow around your neck for a touch of whimsy.
Orange and Turquoise
Tabletop styling tip: Place some orange buds into several turquoise jars...accent with a bold fabric.
Fashion styling tip: Pair a turquoise dress with orange shoes (or vice versa).

I haven't decided which color scheme I'm going with yet, but when I do I'll be sure to share some pictures with you. Which one is your favorite?

  5. Great ideas! I've been wearing a lot of blush and beige lately and that table looks so feminine but Coral Infusion is so vibrant and summery. However, I love the orange and turquoise - its different and summery too - my favourite, I think!

  13. Sharon,

Wonderful ideas here! I like the pink and beige together and love the natural texture of the burlap. I've seen this fabric a lot recently on tables and as a window covering and it's lovely. I use lots of black and white - a classic.
