Happy Mothers Day With Love From Venice!

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Before I post some of my photos from my trip to Venice, which by the way is as amazing as I ever imagined, I just want to wish all of you who are mothers, a happy Mothers Day. I also want to especially wish my Mom and my Eema (my fabulous mother in law) the happiest Mother's Day ever!

I am truly lucky to have such wonderful Moms who are both so loving and supportive, not to mention a whole lot of fun to boot! Here are some photos of me and my Mom on an antiquing day trip. We were trying on some glamorous and vintage fur jackets and hats ala one of my Mom's favorites: Barbara Streisand!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Now for those of you who don't know, I've been on vacation over the last couple of days, first in Belgium and now in Italy. Our first stop in Italy was Venice, and coming from someone who loves aesthetics and visual beauty, there really are so few words that can sum up the unending beauty of this city. It is a pure visual feast full of architectural eye candy. As I strolled through the city today, I literally felt like I was walking inside an ever changing piece of classical art. With so many colorfully hued buildings adorned with overflowing flower boxes, plus curving narrow passageways and water filled canals, there was a beautiful scene to behold at every angle my eyes could take in.

Oh, and did I mention all the shops? Don't even get me started about the Murano glass! I could go on and on, but here are some highlights...enjoy!

Here's me thrilled to have arrived in Venice...this is the boat dock that takes passengers from the airport into the city. There are no streets or cars in Venice, the only way to get around is by boat.
My first view of the city:
This is the courtyard of the hotel we are staying at:
The doors to one of the ancient shuls (synagogues) is amazing, as are so many others:
An Italian street vendor selling colorful wares:
Kids playing in one of the plazas:
The architecture and flower boxes are divine:
Public transportation has never been so romantic:
 How quintessentially Italian!
Some of the beautifully distressed colors of Venice:
 A pretty flower shop:
 More colors and flowers!
Deliciously vibrant produce at a street vendor's stall:
 And more!

The weather has been beautiful, but tonight a storm blew in. I hope I'll be able to get some more amazing photos to share with you. But in the meantime, enjoy your Mother's Day!
Until next time,
xo
Sharon

  20. lovely! italy is one of my favorite places on earth, and venice... (sigh) simply no words. (one teeny weeny correction: the breathtaking glass is called murano, with a "u," after the venetian island where the workshops are.)
