Prints Charming

Monday, October 22, 2012

My last two posts have been pretty serious, so I think it's time to get back to a little fashion fun. Have you noticed that geometric prints are in? And don't think it's enough to wear just one print...mixing various prints is all the rage. Now, on the glossy pages of magazines and on the stylish streets of New York this can work fabulously, but in my real world of errand running in suburbia, it's a quite difficult trend to achieve. And although I'm always trying to keep up with that balance that I always talk about between being stylish, on trend and still classic and modest, I had a dream last night that I was wearing no less than four prints and I knew I had crossed over that line...and I loved it! The problem was that I was the only one who did. That's why it was a only a dream, and tomorrow I will wear my 'safe' clothes. How about you? How daring are you in your fashion choices?

So what do you say to pattern play? Do you think you'd dare to wear? If not then do try it at home!

I love this wallpaper pattern!
Mix gorgeous patterned pillows on a neutral sofa...
or sometimes a patterned piece of furniture is all you need.

A rug with a big bold pattern will make your room look bigger, and don't you just love this navy/hot pink color combo?

Have a fabulous Monday!

  2. Love the look of those prints, but - admittedly - rarely wear them myself. I really do tend to stick to relatively plain basics and add accessories according to season. Might be fun to explore more though... Have a great week xo

  5. The trick with mixing prints is to put a large print with a small one, then they don't clash. Oh, and wear it on a day when you feel adventurous.

  6. Lovely post Sharon. I am really not very daring with putting prints together; either with my clothes or in my home. I tend to stick with plain and jazz up an outfit with a print-that's as daring as I get ;-)

  8. I love the look of patterns mixed (did you get that email from Anthropologie with a chevron maxi skirt & patterned jacket?). So far, I've not been brave enough to wear it myself, though.

  10. I do love a beautiful print...and wore a fun one this weekend. Then, today, I realized I was in black from head to toe. So...I teeter in and out of color and prints.

    Love all your ideas!!

  11. Both with fashion and with decor I love prints against a solid color. I love the way print on print looks (in fashion and everything else) but I just cannot pull it together. I'll just live vicariously through all of you who are so good at mixing it up! xoxox

  12. I really like the look, but when it comes to prints I stick to one piece at a time. Like I'll wear a bold pant or skirt and that's it. HAHAHA It would definitely work in one of the major cities, like NYC or Chicago. It also looks good in interior decorating as you have shown.

  13. I LOVE the idea of mixing prints if done correctly! Even if it is something simple like mixing a leopard flat with a striped blouse... It is so easy and chic ;)

  20. These photos made me so happy! I love print mixing but I keep it to two and try to watch the scale so it doesn't get too crazy.
