Back To Work on a Parsons Desk

Monday, June 10, 2013

I've been talking about carving out a workspace for myself for a long time. I finally received the shiny white Parson's desk I ordered, and voila, I turned a corner of my sunroom into a space of my own.  Now that I officially have an office, I need to figure out, besides for blogging, what business I should go about. Should I write a book? Should I become a full time stylist, event planner, freelance writer? Or should I just pat myself on my back for being an awesome wife and mom who happens to be a successful blogger and enjoys life as it is?

While I'm pondering these things, I will busy myself with fixing up my new home office while bringing you lots of inspiring posts and still making sure my family gets the attention that they need. And if I accomplish that, is that not success? Or is success only measured by a dollar value? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

The beauty of the Parson's desk is that it's so clean looking and neutral, it will anchor almost any space and style. Go ahead, get inspired while I inspire myself! Which office space is your favorite?

Here are some elements for achieving a unique and customized office space:

1. A bouquet of your favorite fresh flowers.
2. A fabulous lamp.
3. A great chair that's comfy and practical.
4. Interesting storage solutions.
5. Inspiring artwork.
6. An inspiration board.
7. One wall or chair with a vibrant paper or fabric.

Have a happy Monday and a successful week!

xo

  1. These are all brilliant ... loving the first 3 and number 8. Can't wait to see your finished office!!!

You bring up a great point "besides for blogging, what business I should go about" ... I have been wrestling with that question on this end ... keep blogging for fun, sharing (hobby - practice writing skills) or look at taking it to the next level (unsure of what the next level will be)... though I have over the past couple of years been working on a book ~ but just can't seem to get those words on paper _ (or key board buttons).

We recently converted an old single car garage on our property to a "writing"/"meditation" studio ~ and I find some times being in here I feel like I should be doing something to actually generate an income. Will be blogging about this soon.

Will look forward to your thoughts and direction your home office will go. Wishing you a fabulous week.. hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)

  2. I've always enjoyed having a desk space. Even if you are just using it to keep track of household bills and the family calendar, it should be a space that inspires you to want to do something more for yourself.
So sit down and enjoy your pretty new space.

  13. Damn, these photos kinda make me wish I had an office. But alas, I'm but a corporate slave that must be confined within the 2x2 walls of a cubicle. I think you should pat yourself on the back for just being awesome, but do what your heart desires, and what you see yourself doing. All the best to you girl :)

  15. Hi Sharon! If you got 2 comments from meningitis this post then I appologize (:
But what I was typing disappeared on me(:
I meant to say that what ever you choose to do will be right as you must be happy with it first. As simple as it sounds, it is about living your life and as I know a bit about you, I think you are an overachiever anyways!, in your own special way ...
Love the desk and the images are fun, my pick is the veranda one where salmon walls frame it and contrast the blue ceiling!
