My FAVE Stylist: All About Rachel!

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Hey everyone. Hope you're all having a glorious weekend. So far mine has been!  My fabulous friend Margalit spent Shabbos with us and we had the most chilled weekend including some really good eating and girl bonding. (The extra poundage was totally worth it...we're starting our diets again tomorrow!) I consider Margalit like a soul sister, who like me, shares a passion for all things beautiful, yet still knows the difference between meaningful and meaningless. We'll both get excited about a gorgeous fashion 'look' or a fabulous room but we know that what's most beautiful is kindness, peace, positivity and rising above pettiness to live our fullest lives with joy. Margalit is a talented interior designer who's love of design spills over into fashion, as much as my love of fashion spills over to interior design. And so we can never spend too much time together!

On a separate note, I have been having a mental block about what to write about for my next post...there really is so much, that I'm actually a bit overwhelmed with it all. I have little files on my computer with my ideas, and one that I have been saving for a while was about my favorite stylist...Rachel Zoe. I really crush on that girl! She's successful and motivated, glamorous and fabulous. And her attitude is all about living her most joyous and fulfilled life. Oh, did I forget to say that I ADORE her style? Well Margalit, being the sweetheart that she is, brought me Rachel's book, Style A to Zoe and now I'm completely obsessed. (Shame on me I haven't even read it until now!)

So here I am sharing with you my passion for the fabulous style of Rachel Zoe:

Below each photo is a favorite quote from Rachel's book. I mean who couldn't use some of her fabulous styling tips?

"It's true that I'm a more-is-more champion when it comes to accessories."

" I am a firm believer in the adage that it is what's on the inside that ultimately counts..."

"How to do leopard? Take baby steps. A belt here, a pair of shoes another time. Only do one piece at a time. If it's a dress, everything else has to be simple..."

"Eyes closed or open, just dream."

"If you show up looking a bit more glam than the rest, what's the worst-case scenario? You look the best in the room?"

"You can be a nice person AND be successful."

"It is best to focus on what you like about yourself and what is working for you."

"Accessories are everything. To me, they're more important than the clothes."

"Regardless of what the latest fashion trend is, if it doesn't look good on you-doesn't empower you in a way that makes you feel great-then take a pass."
"Entertaining by definition is about diversion....pleasure. I can never understand why a party would turn into anxiety and hard labor for the person throwing it."

"Dressing up is about celebrating. It is about living it up."
Add a pop of colour to your everyday wardrobe with a go big or go home cocktail ring.”

"Style is more about your eye than your bank account."

"When it comes to skin, never show too much of it."

"It goes without saying that a good pair of sunglasses...is an essential in any wardrobe...so rock your sunnies like Jackie O."
And if you're short on cash? Here are Rachel's 5 glamour essentials under $50:

1. red lipstick
2. black eyeliner
3. great heels
4. faux fur shrug
5. metallic clutch

So what's your favorite styling tip from Rachel? Do you have any of your own tips you'd like to share with us. We can never have too many...after all there is a personal stylist in every one of us!
