White and Light

Saturday, November 10, 2012

With snow still on the ground and lots of people still without power, I'm still in a bit of a funk from all of the devastation of the last few weeks. But I'm hopeful that things will slowly get back to normal and am inspired by all the 'CHESED' (good deeds) that have been going on. I believe that these acts of kindness are the silver lining that is coming out of all of this; that we are being forced to look outside of our own selves to find out what we can do for others who are worse off.  In Judaism we have a saying that the world is built on kind deeds, and indeed, our world needs some major rebuilding. And now we all have been given the opportunity to be a part of it. I myself will be busy tomorrow getting ready for our LAKEWOOD FOR THE VICTIMS OF SANDY EVENT to raise money for those who lost so much. And you can be a part of it too by donating here:

And now back to the inspiration for this post...white snow and light...the former not so necessary, but still beautiful; and the latter, something we all need and often take for granted until lost.  Regardless, all things white and light can be a magical combination. And frankly, we could all use a bit of magic...

Let your eyes sparkle with kindness...
Always try to bring some beauty into the world...
A few small touches of kindness can make all the difference...
Just a little light will illuminate a dark space...
 Share your warmth with others...
Dare to be different by being your best self...
Work together with others for a good cause...
 Adorn yourself with positive actions...
Your good deeds will reflect out into the world...

Here's to the rest of a beautiful weekend for all of you, with lots of light and warmth!

  7. You are as always uplifting and strong! Thank you. It is important to know people like you to make us going when we just feel tired and perhaps not determined enough.
And if you want a work out with me there is no more leaves but snow outside we can shovel together(: truthfully I don't like working out and prefer walking outside and gardening(:
You can visit me any time Sharon! XO z

  8. Beautiful Sharon .. and let light shine on New York.. I TOTALLY get the feeling of being a little out of sorts. We live in a wooded forest area that frequently gets nasty storms that leave us without power for 2-7 days. We finally broke down and bought a generator. My husband has a business associate in Pennsylvania that is still without power :( They have a couple kids and I can't imagine the whole scene. It's just terrible. There is nothing worse than living in your home when it's only forty degrees.. or lower!

The white and light is what we need. Great post :)

  10. Sharon,

Can I just tell you how much I admire you? You might just have the biggest heart out of anyone out there!

This is a beautiful message. People underestimate the power of even smiling at a stranger, telling someone they look beautiful or holding a door for someone. Sometimes simply acts of kindness are just as big.
